Upcoming Homeschool Happenings:

Know any?  I'll post them here!

Fun ideas to encourage reading!

Caterpillar - Make a caterpillar head out of paper. Cut out lots of 3" or 4" circles from construction paper. For every book your child reads, have him write the title on the "body" circle. See how long you can make it!

Tree - for fall, make a large brown tree trunk and put it on the wall or door. Cut out leaves in fall colors. Write book titles on the leaves. For Christmas, make a big green christmas tree. Cut out ornaments in lots of colors and write book titles on the decorations!

Reading Bingo - Make a 5x5 grid on blank paper. Choose a theme like a specific country, historical event, etc or just leave it general. In each square write a literary genre such as historical fiction, myths, poetry, adventure, mystery, humorous fiction, science fiction, animal fiction, non-fiction, biography, specific topic, etc. Also make a few squares "your choice" if desired. Try to arrange the squares so that no topic is repeated in any bingo line. Your child needs to read 5 in a row to complete the bingo!
